As #Team6th continues to grow, technology plays an increasingly important part in how we support our volunteers and manage the Group.
We are looking for people interested in helping us develop, maintain and improve our digital systems.
Our technology covers a wide range of areas including our public website, internal Leaders Portal, Microsoft 365, online forms, databases, automation and bespoke web-based tools. We are also increasingly exploring how different systems can integrate with one another to reduce administration for our volunteers.
Depending on your interests and experience, you could help with website development, user experience, automation, APIs and integrations, PHP/Laravel development, WordPress, Microsoft 365 or helping us explore completely new technologies.
You do not need experience across all of these areas. We would much rather have people who are curious, enjoy solving problems and are willing to work collaboratively.
Much of this role can be completed remotely and at times that suit you.
Skills
We would welcome people with experience or an interest in areas such as web development, software development, WordPress, PHP, Laravel, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, databases, APIs, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, automation, AI or systems integration.
However, experience with every technology we use is certainly not expected.
Logical problem-solving, curiosity and a willingness to investigate how systems work are just as valuable.
You should be comfortable working collaboratively, documenting changes where appropriate and recognising that the systems we develop ultimately need to be simple and reliable for volunteers to use.
This role could suit an experienced developer, somebody working in IT who would like to use their skills for a community organisation, or somebody earlier in their technical journey who would like the opportunity to learn by working on genuine projects.
