Section Team Members

Our Section Team Members are at the heart of what we do.

Working alongside other volunteers, you will help deliver fun, exciting and varied activities for our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. This could involve helping run games and activities, teaching practical skills, supporting young people with challenges, helping on trips and camps or simply being another positive adult within the team.

You do not need to be available every week and you do not need previous Scouting experience. Modern Scouting is built around teams, allowing volunteers to contribute in ways that fit around work, family and other commitments.

Some volunteers love outdoor activities, others enjoy crafts, technology, cooking, games, sport or simply helping organise things. Whatever your interests, there is usually a way to use them.

Training and support are provided, and you will always be working as part of a wider team.

Skills

There is no particular professional background or specialist skill required for this role.

We are looking for people who are friendly, reliable, patient and willing to get involved.

Being able to communicate positively with young people and other adults is important, together with a willingness to work as part of a team and try new things.

You certainly do not need to know how to light fires, tie every knot or put up a tent before joining us. Those are all things you can learn along the way.

If you have a hobby, profession or particular skill you would enjoy sharing with young people, even better.
