We are looking for volunteers to help run our Dementia Support Group in the Eastleigh Area.
The group is for Veterans Living with Dementia and others living with Dementia and their carers. We provide a space where those living with Dementia can engage in interaction and activities with others living with dementia.
During the sessions, we also spend time sitting and chatting with those loved ones who care for their partners 24/7 and give them time and space to talk and share their experiences.
Our volunteers welcome our group members, chat with them, serve refreshments and talk with them and at times engage in activities.
Some weeks with have reminiscing sessions and others we have entertainment or other activities and opportunities.
Skills
- We welcome volunteers of all ages who like to make friends and talk to people on an equal basis
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to take part in and lead group sessions
- Enjoy chatting to people of all ages
- Are available Monday afternoons or Wednesday mornings - other days/times maybe added if these not workable
- Training will be provided
