Volunteer Group Lead – Musical Moments (Ringwood)

Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW runs a popular monthly Musical Moments group in Hedge End, bringing together people living with dementia and their family carers to enjoy music, companionship and shared experiences.

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer to lead the group for approximately two hours each month. You will work alongside venue staff and fellow volunteers to welcome attendees and help ensure the smooth running of the session. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

This rewarding role would suit someone who is kind, patient and passionate about supporting others. Personal experience of dementia, whether through caring for a loved one or in a professional capacity, would be beneficial but is not essential. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confidence leading groups. Most importantly, you will help create a warm, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

Every first Tuesday each month 1.45pm-3.30pm.

Just a few hours a month could make a lasting difference to someone living with dementia. Join our volunteer team and help ensure nobody faces dementia alone.

Skills

We are looking for volunteers who are:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence leading and facilitating groups
• A warm, friendly and welcoming approach
• Empathy, patience and understanding when supporting people living with dementia and their carers
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently
• The ability to work collaboratively with venue staff and other volunteers
• Reliability and a commitment to attending the monthly sessions
• A positive attitude and enthusiasm for helping others
• An interest in music and its benefits for wellbeing

Previous experience of dementia is not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.
