Testwood Lakes Sailability – Volunteer Administrators Wanted!
Testwood Lakes Sailability (TLS) is a friendly, volunteer-run charity that enables people with any disability to enjoy the freedom of dinghy sailing. We’ve grown from a small group of 25 volunteers in 2016 to over 60 in 2025 — and now we’re looking for a small team of volunteer administrators to help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
What’s the role?
Flexible, home-based admin support for our sailing operations. You’ll be part of a small team helping to keep our volunteers, sailors, and activities organised throughout the year. If you enjoy tidy systems, good communication, and doing something genuinely meaningful for your community, this could be a great fit.
Key tasks include:
- Keeping our records and documentation up to date (volunteers, customers, contacts, sailing activity, operational forms).
- Responding to email enquiries and passing information to the sailing team.
- Organising rotas for events such as collections, fun days, and the local carnival.
- Coordinating winter training sessions (e.g., First Aid courses): identifying attendees, booking venues and instructors.
- Ensuring key membership information is available for operational use.
- Sending updates and announcements to volunteers and customers, and recording responses when needed.
You’ll need:
- Access to a phone and computer.
- Confidence using email and basic online tools.
- Willingness to work with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Meet, etc.).
- A bit of spare time each week and a collaborative spirit!
When?
TLS sails on Mondays and Thursdays from April to October, with volunteer training generally taking place in February and March. Admin tasks are flexible and can be done from home.
Why join us?
You’ll be supporting an inclusive, welcoming charity that makes a real difference to people’s lives. Plus, you’ll be part of a warm, enthusiastic volunteer community.
If you’re interested or would like to know more, please register your interest — we’d love to hear from you!
