Volunteer Driver

To provide transport, taking DPV volunteer/s to and from certain locations that they can’t access by public transport or because they have too much to carry or because of the timing of the engagement:

  1. Collect volunteer/s, who have a disability and may have an assistance dog, and drive them to/from their destination/s
  2. Ensure any materials, equipment or bags, walking aids, wheelchairs etc. ... are safely stowed
  3. Wait for volunteer/s attending meetings or events or depending on the length of the engagement leave the volunteer/s and return later to take them home
  4. Talk to/listen to your passengers (if that’s what they want), making them feel comfortable in your company.
  5. Maintain contact with DPV
  6. To observe our Volunteers’ Code of Conduct

  • Good driver with a clean driving license

Other requirements:

  • If you utilise your own vehicle, you must ensure that your vehicle is safe for purpose and insured to undertake transportation
