Volunteer Community Cars Coordinator

Help us keep Gosport Community Cars moving!

Our Volunteer Community Cars Coordinators will help with the day-to-day organisation of our voluntary car service, connecting local people who need transport with our team of volunteer drivers.

The role may include receiving and recording journey requests, speaking to service users to confirm their requirements, contacting volunteer drivers to find someone available, confirming arrangements with both parties and keeping our records and database up to date.

You may also help with registering new service users, responding to general enquiries and keeping in touch with our volunteer drivers.

You won’t be expected to manage the service alone. You’ll work alongside the Gosport Community Support team, with clear procedures and support available whenever you need it.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys organising, talking to people and solving the occasional logistical puzzle!

Skills

We’re looking for volunteers who are:

• Friendly and confident speaking to people on the telephone
• Organised and able to keep track of several pieces of information
• Reliable and accurate
• Comfortable using a computer and entering information onto a database
• Able to communicate clearly with service users, drivers and the GCS team
• Respectful of confidentiality and sensitive personal information
• Calm and able to problem-solve when arrangements change
• Able to follow procedures and recognise when something needs to be referred to a member of the GCS team

Previous administration, transport coordination, booking, reception or customer service experience would be helpful but is not essential. Full training and support will be provided.
