Trustee at 2nd Fareham Sea Scouts

*Help steer a thriving Sea Scout Group*

2nd Fareham Sea Scouts is looking for a new trustee to join our Group Trustee Board. If you care about young people, enjoy being part of a friendly team and want to help local children get out on the water and into adventure, we would love to hear from you.

About us

We are a Sea Scout Group offering young people the chance to learn new skills, build confidence and make lifelong friends through boating, outdoor activities and community projects. Everything we do is made possible by volunteers, and our trustees play a vital part in keeping the Group safe, well run and financially secure.

About the role

As a trustee, you will share responsibility for the Group's governance as a registered charity. Together with the other trustees, you will:

  • Make sure the Group is safe, well managed and follows Scouting policy and charity law
  • Support the Group Lead Volunteer and leadership team
  • Help oversee finances, fundraising and our premises and equipment
  • Contribute ideas to help the Group grow and improve
  • Attend regular meetings, currently once or twice a term at our HQ in Locks Yard

What is involved

  • Time commitment: roughly 2-4 hours per month
  • Trustees must be aged 18 or over and are not paid for the role
  • Scouts membership checks, including a DBS check, are required, and full training and support will be provided
