Memory Cafe Volunteers Fair Oak/Bishopstoke

We are pleased to be opening a Memory Café in Fair Oak for anyone living with Dementia. Alzhiemer's, memory loss or for anyone who would benefit from Social Interaction.

The Memory Cafe will take place twice a month on a Wednesday afternoon 2pm for around an hour. During this time, we will chat with those attending and ensure that they feel welcome.

We will also have a themed reminiscing session each time and together share memories and help those attending to make new memories.

Skills

  • Good communicator
  • Happy talking to older people who may sometimes forget what was said
  • Patient and understanding to the needs of older people
  • Are able to commit on a Wednesday afternoon
  • Be willing to attend a dementia friends training session
  • Be able to introduce new subjects and ideas for sessions
  • To ensure confidentiality is maintained

    We will arrange a DBS for volunteers after a trial period. This role does not include lone working
