The Volunteer Police Cadets Scheme provides a safe environment where young people can learn as individuals, develop positive relationships with the police and actively support the community.
There are 11 units around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight based at:
- Andover: Wednesdays 6 to 8pm
- Basingstoke: Thursdays 6 to 8pm
- Winchester: Tuesdays 6 to 8pm
- Havant and Petersfield: Wednesdays 6 to 8pm
- Portsmouth North: Mondays 6 to 8pm
- Portsmouth South: Tuesdays 6 to 8pm
- Gosport: Tuesdays 6 to 8pm
- Isle of Wight: Wednesdays 6.30 to 8.30pm
- Hedge End: Mondays 6.30 to 8.30pm
- Southampton: Tuesdays 6.30 to 8.30pm
- New Forest: Thursdays 6 to 8pm
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to use their personal qualities and skills within their community and learn, alongside our police cadets, how Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary operate.
It is a great chance to help give back to your local community by helping shape the understanding of today’s youth. You’ll be supporting the delivery of awareness sessions to help cadets learn legislation and policies. You’ll also attend events to promote positive community engagement and inspiring young people to become good citizens. This will help build their confidence as they become young adults.
Becoming a Cadet Leader is a meaningful way to contribute to the future of young people while also developing your own abilities.
You will receive:
- A rewarding experience that makes a positive difference
- Opportunities to learn new skills and build confidence
- Travel expenses paid
- Ongoing CPD and skills development (e.g., first aid, conflict management)
- Ongoing support from the Constabulary
Leaders are valued and recognised through:
- Service awards
- Opportunities to be involved in high profile local and national events
Applicants will be required to undergo Police Vetting and an enhanced DBS check. Successful applicants will be required to complete safeguarding training prior to joining the unit.
