Ticket Office and Shop/Café Team Volunteer

This is a dual role, with volunteers sharing the tasks in the ticket office and shop/café on a rota basis.

Tasks in the ticket office include:

• Helping to open up the ticket office ready to receive visitors and/or helping to close the ticket office at the end of the day, sometimes helping to cash up
• Welcoming visitors to the museum and answering visitors’ general questions
• Taking payment for entry to the museum, giving out leaflets, etc.

Tasks in the shop/café include:

• Helping to open he shop/café ready to receive visitors and/or helping to close the shop at the end of the day, sometimes helping to cash up
• Making hot drinks for visitors and volunteers
• Keeping the shop/café area clean and tidy
• Using the dishwasher
• Taking payment for drinks, snacks and souvenirs
  
• Keeping stock on display topped up during the day
• Opportunity to engage make new friends and work as a team with existing volunteers
• Opportunity to meet new and interesting people who visit the museum

Skills

• No previous experience of retail/hospitality is necessary but would be an advantage
• Good people skills to communicate well to our visitors
• Ideally, basic IT skills – ability to use a simple smartphone or tablet
  
• Friendly outlook and ability to work as part of a team
