CHAIRPERSON

HVCG, a small not for profit group, has been in operation in the Horndean Parish area since 1979 offering support to the residents of South Horndean, Blendworth, Catherington and Lovedean. The Group endeavours to assist with transport door-to-door to hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists, hairdressers, lunch clubs, opticians, shopping trips etc.

Our previous Chairperson stood down from the role due to work commitments.

Role Description

The Chairperson will manage committee business and lead in the direction of the Group with the support of the Secretary and Treasurer. They will:

·       Chair/lead the Committee meetings (at least three a year) and Annual General Meeting

·       Faciltate decision making and ensure decisions are recorded/communicated 

·       Along with others, represent the Group locally and keep up-to-date with local needs

·       Make sure that the Constitution is upheld and updated as necessary

·       Ensure with colleagues that the responsibilities of the Committee are undertaken such as:

• Adherence to the Group’s Constitution, policies and procedures
• Good governance and safe practice
• Appropriate resolution of disputes
• Sustainability of the group
• Dealing with complaints

·       Undertake an enhanced DBS check in accordance with the Group’s policy.

Time commitment

Flexible but modest. To include three Committee meetings a year plus the Annual General Meeting.

Good Neighbours Network

The Group sits under the umbrella of the Good Neighbours Network, an organisation which provides resources and support for all the voluntary groups like HVCG working in Hampshire.
