Car Drivers

Do you have some time to spare and feel able to do your bit for the community by joining the Group's small, but very willing, band of volunteers?

Horndean  Voluntary Care Group (part of the Good Neighbours Network) provides transport for clients to medical appointments, lunch clubs, hairdressers, dentists, shopping trips etc. both within Horndean area and further afield e.g. Portsmouth Hospitals. We are recruiting drivers who are able to give as much or as little time as they have available to drive our clients to their appointments. Clients may live in Horndean, Catherington, Blendworth or Lovedean. The Group is well aware that volunteers have other commitments, so you will always be at liberty to say 'no' to any task requested. By helping people to get out and about, you will be really helping to make their lives more enjoyable and getting personal satisfaction from doing so.  Your mileage expenses will be covered as per HMRC rules.

Specific Duties

Use own car to provide transport

Deal appropriately with confidential material

Be sensitive to the needs of the client

Report any concerns/issues to the Duty Coordinator

Skills

Full clean driving license  

You will need to comply with all the legal requirements for everyday car use (Tax, MOT, insurance).  Employer Liability insurance is provided by the Group.

Comply with the policies and procedures of the Group e.g. Safeguarding and Confidentiality

Agree to an Enhanced DBS check

Good listening/communication skills

Patience/tact/caring/sympathetic/sensitive manner/non-judgmental

Reliable

Able to work without direct supervision
