Restoration and/or Museum Maintenance Team Volunteer

This is a varied role, with volunteers participating in a range of tasks supporting the maintenance and restoration of the museum exhibits along with the site maintenance around the museum.

Restoration tasks could include:

• Monitoring the condition of the exhibits and helping repair any reported defects.
• Painting and repainting exhibits
• Exhibit cleaning
• Optional tasks of metalwork, woodwork, mechanical if competent

Museum Maintenance tasks could include:

• General Site Maintenance
• Landscaping

General Museum Tasks include:

• Welcoming visitors to the museum and answering visitors’ general questions
• Learning about the exhibits and talking to visitors about them as appropriate
• Engaging with visitors and assisting wherever possible
• Helping to open up the museum ready to receive visitors or close museum at the end of the day
• Opportunity to engage make new friends and work as a team with existing volunteers
• Opportunity to meet new and interesting people who visit the museum

Skills

• No previous experience is necessary, however engineering, mechanical or skill trade background would be an advantage. 
• Good people skills to communicate well to our visitors
• Ideally, basic tool skills are an advantage
  
• Friendly outlook and ability to work as part of a team
