Fundraising and Events Volunteer

Our hospice needs to constantly raise money in order to be able to support patients, both in the community and in our hospice. Although we are 70% funded by the NHS, the costs of supporting people with chronic and life limiting illnesses continues to grow and it costs £7,500 a day to provide care within both the hospice and the community.

Volunteering with our fundraising team primarily involves offering support at specific events throughout the year. It may also involve helping distribute posters etc and simple administrative tasks. Assisting the fundraising team at Winchester Hospice’s fundraising events and representing the hospice team at community events can include but is not limited to 

-transportation of materials and merchandise, setting up the charity stand (including gazebos, tables, banners, flags and decorating the stand)

-talking to members of the community about Winchester hospice

-taking donations

-running the tombola and selling merchandise though our contactless payment methods and collection tins

Most events are at weekends and you can choose which you volunteer at. All volunteers are recruited by Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust but managed by the fundraising team.
