Barnardo’s has been commissioned by Hampshire County Council to develop an inclusive, flexible, and innovative programme aligned with Hampshire’s Healthy Weight Strategy (2022-2026) that empowers families with children aged 2 to 12 years to make sustainable changes to their behaviours, lifestyles, and home environments, with the aim of promoting healthy weight.
The programme will:
- Empower parents and their children to set their own goals to support their family’s health and emotional well-being and home environments.
- Give families an opportunity to talk through any challenges they may have regarding physical activity, sleep, routines, nutrition, and emotional well-being and support with finding solutions.
- Provide families with access to a range of digital and take-home resources to support to make positive changes.
- Celebrate changes implemented. Recognising the small manageable changes will help to give our children happier childhoods.
We are looking for volunteers with a passion to help deliver our programmes and support parents which might include a listening ear, emotional support, or signposting. You will offer this support by volunteering with our trained facilitators to deliver in person and online groups.
We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in people’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage parents and carers in worthwhile and enjoyable activities, supporting them to achieve their goals.
