Craft Volunteers - e.g. Knitting, Crochet, Sewing, Papercrafts

Embracing Age is a Christian charity working towards a world where older people are valued, connected, and full of hope. Sending cards and craft items to older people in care homes helps reduce loneliness and isolation, builds connection with their local community and lets them know people are thinking of them.

We are currently seeking volunteers to use their crafting skills to create handmade items such as blankets, shawls and other craft items that can be given to residents during the year and at Christmas. We also love to gift craft flowers to residents to help brighten their rooms and for occasions such as birthdays.

If you enjoy knitting, crochet, sewing, papercrafts or other relevant crafts, please contact us and we can give you more information about the items we need for care home residents who do not have family or friends to visit them. You can make items at home or as part of a group.

There is no commitment to make items on a regular basis - any items you can give will be gratefully received by us and much appreciated by the residents who receive them.

Skills

  • Creative: Do you enjoy making craft items?
  • Communication: Would you be able to liaise with the local Embracing Age coordinator or other volunteers to arrange the delivery or distribution of the items to care homes?
