Trustees

Bridge to Unity CIO

Bridge to Unity CIO is recruiting Trustees to join our Board and help strengthen and sustain our work with refugees and displaced families across the UK.

We are particularly keen to hear from people who bring experience from the refugee or migration sector and/or expertise in funding, grants, or fundraising, and who want to use that experience to support a growing charity.

This is a strategic, voluntary role suitable for both experienced trustees and those new to board roles.

The Role of a Trustee

Trustees work alongside the Co-Directors and fellow Board members to:

  • Provide strategic oversight and constructive challenge
  • Support the long-term sustainability of the charity
  • Ensure strong governance, safeguarding, and financial oversight
  • Help shape funding approaches and partnerships
  • Champion the values and mission of Bridge to Unity

We would love to hear from you if you gave experience in:

  • Refugee support, migration, or resettlement programmes
  • Grant writing, funding management, or fundraising
  • Charity or public-sector commissioning
  • Safeguarding (adults and/or children)
  • Mental health, wellbeing, or trauma-informed practice
  • Community development or partnership working
  • Finance, governance, HR, or compliance
  • Monitoring, evaluation, or impact reporting

Lived experience of migration or resettlement is strongly valued.

Personal qualities we value

  • Strategic thinking and good judgement
  • A collaborative, respectful approach
  • Empathy, cultural awareness, and integrity
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion, dignity, and community connection
  • Willingness to contribute skills and experience to support a small, committed team

Time Commitment

Approximately 4 hours per month, with flexibility. Trustees who are able and willing to contribute additional time to support funding, strategy, or specific pieces of work are warmly welcomed.
