Animal Care Volunteer

Do you love animals? Could you help support adults with learning disabilities to look after and care for our animals here at Minstead Lodge?

We are seeking new volunteers to join our animal care team, supporting our staff team to look after and care for our animals, which currently include 2 donkeys, 6 pygmy goats and 4 geese!

A typical session will include mucking out, caring for and feeding the animals and is usually followed by taking the donkeys out for a short walk around the lodge grounds and into the New Forest.

Based in the beautiful grounds of Minstead Lodge, our New Forest Day Opportunities provides the perfect environment for people with learning disabilities to feel safe and confident as they engage in a wonderful variety of practical and therapeutic activities, all of which are carefully designed to offer the chance to develop valuable life skills, to build confidence, to promote greater independence and to support positive health and wellbeing.

Skills

Friendly, kind and approachable, this support role requires someone who really enjoys being outside (often in all weather!), feels confident working with animals and has great communication and interpersonal skills.

Please note that role may include some heavy lifting.

Weekend help (either regular or ad-hoc) would be especially welcome.
