About Us
We are a small but vibrant charity supporting adults with learning disabilities in the Winchester area. Our mission is to empower our members to live life to the fullest by building confidence, independence, and meaningful connections within their community.
The Role
As a Go LD Volunteer, you will support adults with learning disabilities to take part in our group-based and social programmes. Working alongside our friendly staff team, you’ll help create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where members feel valued, listened to, and supported to achieve their goals.
This role is ideal for university students interested in psychology, social work, education, health, youth and community work, or anyone who enjoys working with people and making a real difference.
What You’ll Do
- Support members to engage in group activities and discussions
- Encourage confidence, independence, and positive social interaction
- Offer encouragement and one-to-one support where appropriate
- Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful space
- Work closely with staff and other volunteers as part of a team
No previous experience is required — full guidance and support will be provided.

Go LD Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteers can support one or more of the following programmes:
Go US – Tuesdays, 2:30pm–3:30pm
A group session focused on learning, sharing, and building confidence. Volunteers support discussions and activities around life skills, health, teamwork, and community involvement.
Go ME – Wednesdays, 11:00am–12:30pm
A 12-week programme combining group sessions with one-to-one support. Volunteers help members recognise their strengths, understand what keeps them well, and work towards personal goals.
Go CONNECT – Fridays, 12:00pm–1:00pm
A relaxed social session to end the week. Volunteers support conversations, games, and shared activities that help members build friendships and feel listened to and valued.
Go SOCIALS – Monthly, Thursday Evenings
Fun social events in the community such as meals out, quizzes, discos, or bowling. Volunteers support members to feel confident, safe, and included while out and about.
