Role Title: Volunteer Walk Leader
Reports To: Walk N Talk 4 Mental Health Walk Leader Coordinator
Location: Eastleigh
Time Commitment: Flexible, to be agreed at induction
Role Overview
As a Volunteer Walk Leader, you will play a vital role in promoting mental well-being through social connection and physical activity. By leading inclusive, welcoming group walks, you will help create a safe space where participants can enjoy the benefits of walking and talking while raising awareness about mental health.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leading Walks:
- Arrive punctually and ensure participants are welcomed warmly.
- Provide a brief introduction at the start of each walk, including safety information and route details.
- Create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere, encouraging open conversations and participation.
- Be attentive to participants’ needs, offering encouragement and assistance when required.
3. Health and Safety:
- Know the procedures for handling emergencies.
- Ensure the group stays together and follows the planned route.
- Be mindful of individual participants’ well-being and adapt the pace or plan if necessary.
4. Promoting Walk N Talk:
- Act as an ambassador for Walk N Talk 4 Mental Health, raising awareness about the organisation’s mission.
- Encourage participants to share their experiences and spread the word about the walks.
- Share updates and feedback with the team to support improvement and growth.
5. Administration:
- Maintain attendance records for each walk and report this to the Walk Leader coordinator.
- Gather feedback from participants to improve the experience and identify areas for development.

Skills and Attributes
Essential:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A friendly, approachable, and non-judgmental attitude.
- A commitment to promoting mental health awareness and inclusivity.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in leading groups or organising events.
- An understanding of mental health challenges and sensitivity to participants’ diverse needs.
- Basic knowledge of first aid (training can be provided if needed).
