Trust and School Governance

RAISE Education Trust comprises of three schools; two secondary schools, Deer Park School in Botley, Wildern School in Hedge End, and a primary school, Boorley Park School in Boorley Green, all are within a short drive of each other.

We have vacancies for Members, Trustees and Governors, who support each of the school's Local Academy Committees.

Members - oversee the Trust Board and are required to meet annually at the Annual General Meeting, held either virtually or in person.

Trustees - meet four times a year and have delegated authority of relevant responsibilities to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and the Pay Committee, that a number of Trustees are also required to be members of. The former Committee meet six times a year the latter three times a year. Trust Board meetings are held in person, other committees either in person or virtually.

Local Academy Committee Governors - meet six times a year in person.

Trustees and Governors are also required to take on specific link roles and undertake short school visits each term to fulfil those duties, usually held during the school day. There may be times when Governors and Trustees are required to panel disciplinary committees, which take place after the school day. Training for these responsibilities will be provided.

All scheduled meetings are held on a Monday evening, starting at 5:30pm and usually last about one and a half hours. Virtual meetings are held on Google Meet.

Skills

Governance teams are responsible for overseeing the management of a Trust or its schools: with a focus on strategy, policy, budgeting and staffing. They enable the Trust or their school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to children.

You will need to have an interest in education and be committed to attending regular governing body meetings to consider issues such as setting the school vision, mitigating financial risk and scrutinising educational outcomes.

You will be involved in the school community, acting as critical friend to the CEO, headteacher and senior leaders.
