Overnight Helpers wanted for The Winchester Beacon (formerly Winchester Churches Nightshelter) at their main site on Jewry Street in Winchester.
The Winchester Beacon is operated by fully trained staff, but it can only open with the back up of volunteers as additional support. This role involves assisting the paid member of staff to ensure 10 people experiencing homelessness can be accommodated at the main site every day and night of the year. The Winchester Beacon needs people to stay overnight: the shift lasts from 9pm until 8am the following morning. Volunteers will sleep in a private room and manage at least 6 or 7 hours sleep. Without this key support during the night The Winchester Beacon would not be able to stay open.
