Can you help us raise funds to help people in Africa build sustainable livelihoods, and to help support our UK operations?
Join our team of online selling volunteers!
Our charity takes in large numbers of donated hand tools, power tools, sewing machines and other items. The priority is to refurbish and equip our Africa training projects; however, many are either unsuitable or surplus to our project requirements. We therefore look to sell certain items in the UK to raise the funds essential to our work.
Our charity currently sells online via eBay – however we are looking to develop this further with an expanded team of sellers. All selling will take place via our existing charity eBay account.
Experience selling on eBay would be welcome, but if not an interest in the role and a willingness to learn will be essential.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Researching the value of sale items and setting prices
- Taking pictures of items and listing for sale on relevant platforms (primarily eBay)
- Packing and sending sold items
- Responding to general enquiries from potential buyers
- Reviewing progress of eBay sales to aid the continuing development of the charity’s online fundraising programme.
The role is based at our main offices and workshop in Netley Marsh (SO40 7GY).
Hours are flexible, but we're looking for someone who can undertake the role for at least 3 hours per week between 9.30am-4pm, preferably on a Friday. There is also the opportunity to explore other potential volunteering roles you may wish to also undertake with us alongside online selling.
Skills
- Applicants must be confident with computers and general IT.
- Experience selling online (particularly eBay) would be very useful.
- Knowledge of hand and/or electrical tools will be beneficial, though not essential, as we have onsite staff/volunteers that can provide necessary info for descriptions and pricing etc.
