As a County Ambassador, you will collaborate with our Volunteering Coordinator to:
- Support our local volunteers who collect tools, speak on our behalf and represent us in churches and community groups
- Recruit new volunteers
- Promote our work locally
- Help organise and run local events
- Represent Tools with a Mission (TWAM) where opportunities arise
- Seek opportunities to recruit groups to support TWAM as Local Groups, tool collection points and independent workshops
You will work within an agreed area, usually the county where you live (but we understand some counties are very large or very rural and this may not be feasible). We would like you to proactively look for opportunities to promote our mission through speaking engagements in various settings, such as Church groups, Rotary groups, WI, U3A, retirement and community groups or local shows and events.
We would also like you to keep in touch and support our other remote working volunteers, as working as a Tool Collector, Volunteer Speaker or Community Fundraiser can be lonely with little personal contact with TWAM. This role can offer a vital and comforting link for everyone involved. This is a great role for someone with drive, initiative and passion who wants to use those qualities to transform lives.
You will work closely with the Volunteering Coordinator and agree on a regular pattern of contact with them. You will receive resources from us, including a Volunteer speaker pack (updated biannually), a selection of leaflets, details of all your local volunteers, details of local supporting churches and groups and expenses guidelines and reimbursement. You will also be provided with equipment such as a projector and screen, pull up banners, Business cards and ID Card. You will be invited to a regular Zoom meeting with TWAM staff dedicated to the County Ambassador role.
In a nutshell, this is a great role for someone who likes to show initiative and who shares our passion for livelihood creation.
Skills
We understand that everyone has different strengths and talents, and that no one is good or confident at everything. We respect your preferences and will not pressure you to do things that you are uncomfortable with. Depending on your interests and abilities, your main responsibilities may vary, but here are some possible examples:
- Promoting TWAM through free local websites and papers, volunteer fairs and community events, and giving talks to churches, church groups and local community groups. You can also distribute leaflets (with permission) in local libraries and waiting rooms of doctors or dentists.
- Managing and supporting volunteers by communicating regularly, organising team meetings to foster a sense of belonging and appreciation, ensuring that everyone has updated leaflets and receives the volunteer e-news every month.
- Speaking to potential new volunteers in your area before they are approved by Ipswich and visiting or contacting new collectors to build rapport and support.
