About
The Governing Board at Henry Cort Community College has vacancies for co-opted Governors.
To be a school governor you do not need a background in education – we value a diverse range of skills and interests. We offer training to develop and enhance your skills, and you will be part of a supportive and pro-active team of volunteers working to deliver the best possible education for children in our community. The role of school governor is subject to a DBS check.
We meet at the school 9 times a year (September – July) on a Thursday between 6pm – 8pm for full board meetings. Each governor sits on a monitoring team to suit skills and experience, which meet termly to discuss the monitoring plan and Governors do make monitoring visits to the school during school hours.
A school governor ensures that:
• the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined
• the headteacher effectively drives the educational performance of the school
• the school’s financial resources are used efficiently
