Volunteer Depot Assistant - Stockroom & Sorting Team

Our Retail Depot in Portchester is the heart of our retail network in the south! It’s a busy, fast-moving space where every donation has the potential to make a difference. As a Retail Depot Volunteer, you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team transforming incoming stock into shop-ready treasures.

Whether you enjoy being active, getting stuck in, or working behind the scenes we have a spot for you. Our depot roles are about working together, keeping things moving, and helping make a difference for dogs.

What you’ll be doing

No two shifts are the same, but you can expect to:

•Sort through incoming donations to uncover saleable items

•Help move, organise and prepare stock across a large, busy stockroom

•Work as part of a team to keep stock flowing to the other Dogs Trust stores our depot supports

•Tag and prepare items for sale on the shop floor

•Keep the depot safe, tidy and well-organised

What you’ll get from this role

•Be part of a welcoming, supportive and down-to-earth team

•Flexible volunteering to suit your availability

•Opportunities to learn new skills in retail operations and stock handling

•A chance to stay active and contribute in a way that works for you

•Ongoing support, training and a dedicated contact

•The knowledge you are helping save items from landfill and support sustainability efforts

•The satisfaction of helping turn donations into funds that support dogs in need

Skills

What we’re looking for:

You don’t need retail experience - just a positive attitude and willingness to get involved:

•Enjoy working as part of a team in a busy environment

•Happy to be active at your own pace – there’s a role for everyone

•A practical, can-do approach and willingness to get stuck in

•Comfortable handling bags, boxes or stock (with support where needed)

•Good attention to detail when sorting items

•Reliable and happy to help across different tasks

•A love of dogs and interest in dog welfare is always welcome
