Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) volunteers play an important role in supporting veterans, their families, and carers. As a VOS Volunteer, you will help create welcoming and inclusive environments where individuals can connect, access support, and feel part of a community.
Through supporting events, activities, and outreach, volunteers help strengthen connections within the veteran community while promoting wellbeing and awareness of the support available through VOS.
Key Responsibilities
Champion Support for Veterans:
- Demonstrate a commitment to supporting veterans, their families, and carers.
- Help create a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment at VOS activities.
Support Events and Activities:
- Assist with the delivery of VOS events including drop-ins, wellbeing sessions, social groups, and outreach events.
- Support with set-up, welcoming attendees, and helping activities run smoothly.
Engage and Connect with People:
- Provide a friendly and approachable presence.
- Offer a listening ear and help people feel comfortable and included.
- Signpost individuals to VOS staff or appropriate support where needed.
Support Community Engagement:
- Help promote VOS services and upcoming activities.
- Encourage participation and help raise awareness within the community.
Work as Part of the VOS Team:
- Represent VOS in a positive and professional way.
- Work collaboratively with staff and fellow volunteers.
- Follow VOS policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidance.
