Treasurer

The Hampshire Field Club & Archaeological Society (HFCAS) is a membership society promoting the study of and research into the Archaeology, History, Historic Buildings, Landscape, Geology and Natural History within the county of Hampshire; the preservation and conservation of this heritage and publications as appropriate. We are a registered charity run by volunteers.

HFCAS is seeking a replacement Treasurer from May 2026, to be responsible for the financial management, accounting and planning of the society. This entails possibly 2 hours per week at the Treasurers discretion. The Treasurer reports at four general meetings pa. where the society’s finances are reviewed. In addition, they attend the Annual General Meeting where they present an annual Financial Report and an audited Balance Sheet and Income and Expenditure Account, together with the Report of the Independent Examiner.

The Society is seeking to widen it's reach and increase it's membership so the role of its Treasurer is crucial to proposed expansion.

Skills

• Previous experience as a Treasurer, Trustee, Financial Officer, Book-keeper or related role would be helpful.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn about financial accounting and tax regulations, Charity Commission requirements, legislation and best practices.
•  Good arithmetical skills.
•  Accuracy and attention to detail.
