Hampshire Schools are looking for people who want to make a difference to children’s lives by helping them to achieve their full potential. School Governors don’t need to be education experts or have formal education they just need to be passionate that every child deserves the chance to succeed.
As a School Governor you will play a vital role shaping the vision and strategy of your local school. Your contributions will directly impact the educations and well-being of your students making your school one everyone in the local community can be proud of.
What is it like to be a Governor?
You will be part of a team of people who have a range of skills and backgrounds. Together you will ensure the education that your children receive is of the highest standard and that all children will have access to the same opportunities and the same chance to achieve success. Boards meet twice a term and Governors are expected to visit the school once a term. Commitment to the role is essential as it directly influences the success of the school.
The Support You Will Receive?
Hampshire County Council understands the importance of Governors and provides regular training so that boards can stay informed about best practice and governance responsibilities. They also provide a help desk five days a week that provide advice and support.
