Home Library Service Volunteers help once a month by selecting books from their local library & visiting customers who find it difficult to access their local library due to health or mobility issues or caring responsibilities.
As a volunteer for the Home Library Service you can enhance somebody's life not only through the library materials that you take for them, but also through your companionship and contact you give them with the outside world.
Skills
- An ability to relate to older and/or disabled people
- An interest in reading is desirable but not essential
- A basic level of IT including using email
- A warm, friendly and approachable manner
- Good communication and listening skills
- Able to work as part of a team
- A reasonable level of fitness
- Ability to drive with access to own car is of benefit but not essential
