Hampshire History Trust is a voluntary organisation committed to community participation in history and heritage. It offers free or low-cost history and educational projects, including its own podcast channel, Hampshire HistBites, and organises and promotes a programme of free events for the Winchester Heritage Open Days festival every September across the county. Role Overview

We are looking for a Volunteer Fundraising Manager to help strengthen and grow the Trust’s fundraising activity. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys shaping ideas, building relationships, and helping a small but ambitious charity increase its impact across Hampshire.

You’ll play a key part in developing our fundraising strategy, supporting grant applications, identifying new funding opportunities, and helping us communicate the value of our work to potential sponsors and supporters.

The role is flexible and can be shaped around your availability, from a few hours a week to a more regular commitment over several months.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and support the delivery of a fundraising strategy for the Trust.
  • Research potential funders, sponsors, and grant opportunities.
  • Write and support applications for charitable grants.
  • Create clear, compelling “proposition” documents for potential business or individual sponsors.
  • Contribute ideas for fundraising events and help shape event‑based fundraising approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with trustees and volunteers to strengthen the Trust’s long‑term sustainability.

Skills

What We’re Looking For

  • An interest in heritage, community engagement, or charitable work.
  • Strong written communication skills, especially for bids or proposals.
  • Confidence in researching opportunities and presenting ideas clearly.
  • Experience in fundraising and sponsorship is essential.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and willingness to shape a developing area of the Trust’s work.
