Volunteers’ Week 2023: Celebrate and Inspire

25 May 2023

Community First marks Volunteers’ Week 2023.

2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when Community First will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK. With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’, we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.

The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society has never been more important.

This Volunteers’ Week, Community First will be celebrating our hundreds of volunteers by: sharing volunteer success stories; holding a Volunteer Fayre; attending community events to promote volunteering; and coordinating a volunteering day for a corporate company. We’ll also be celebrating all things volunteering on our social media platforms.

Tim Houghton, Community First CEO says: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of our communities. We’ve seen an amazing response and real desire for local people to help those in need across Hampshire during the last year. Volunteers’ Week is an opportunity to celebrate and to say thank you but also to maintain the momentum and make sure volunteering is accessible and open to all. A few minutes a day or a few hours a week can make all the difference to someone and best of all it’s free.”

Our Volunteering Service helps those who are looking to volunteer to find the perfect opportunity in their local area or from home. For more information, why not check out the hundreds of local roles on our website at www.volunteerfirst.org.uk or by emailing volunteer@cfirst.org.uk
