Team Thales Returns to the Brickworks Museum for a Day of Community Action

13 November 2025

A small group of enthusiastic volunteers from Fareham-based business, Thales Distribution Group Ltd, volunteered their time to spend the day carrying out essential tasks at the Brickworks Museum.

Blessed with a sunny September day, the team of 5 volunteers had fun helping out with maintenance and gardening tasks on the large 10 acre site in Swanwick. This volunteering day, arranged by Liza Smith (Community First’s Voluntary Sector Advisor in Fareham), was the second time that a team from Thales has visited the Museum to help with gardening and general maintenance on the site.

David Liversedge, Projects & Customer Service Manager said: “The Thales work group was once again pleased to support a local community organisation by volunteering their time. This was another rewarding day which was a complete contrast to our normal roles! We look forward to arranging further volunteering days in our local community. Thanks again to the Museum for hosting us and Community First for arranging the day. I recommend any businesses looking to volunteer to contact Community First”.

The Brickworks Museum, UK’s sole surviving Victorian steam-driven brickworks, is a historic heritage site that relies heavily on the support of an army of regular and corporate volunteers, who contribute their time throughout the year to keep the museum alive, working and welcoming to visitors.

Carolyne Haines, the Museum’s Director said: “”we are always happy to host corporate groups to the Museum and are grateful for the team at Thales for their hard work and commitment in undertaking some essential maintenance tasks for us”
