Starlit Trail

29 July 2019

Wessex Cancer Trust provides local cancer care support services for adults, teenagers and children living with cancer across the Wessex region – Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.

Come and join us on the Starlit Trail.  This 5k evening walk takes place on Friday 20th September 2019 in Winchester City Centre.

We’re hoping this will be a sponsored walk with difference where walkers will enjoy illuminated landmarks and pockets of live entertainment along the way!

We are looking for the following volunteers:

Course marshals
Our course marshals are instrumental in ensuring that walkers stay on the correct route and complete the course safely. We’d love our marshals to add to the feel of the event and get into the spirit of the Starlit Trail by wearing something starry, bringing music or carrying fairy lights!

Lead walkers
It’s the job of the lead walker to guide everyone around the course safely, as well as offering friendly support.

Tail walkers
The tail walker follows the group making sure that all our walkers complete the course safely, as well as offering friendly words of encouragement.

Start and finish area assistants
We are looking for volunteers to help set up the start/finish area at the Guildhall. We’re also looking for volunteers to welcome our walkers at the very start of the event and celebrate with them when they return at the
end.

Mascot wearer
Our supporters love meeting Wolly the Lion – the Wessex Cancer Trust Mascot. This fun role involves dressing up as Wolly, waving, shaking hands and interacting with people.

Photographers
We’d love to capture our event forever in the form of fab photographs of our walkers, volunteers, performers and the beautiful city of Winchester.
