A fun social group for people with learning disabilities
Just Us, is a fun group that works with and for vulnerable people in Winchester. Most of the current group members have learning difficulties but we welcome other people who could benefit from what we do.
Just Us is a self-advocacy or peer support group where the members decide on the group’s activities. Members pay a contribution to running the group which is organised with help and from volunteers and supported by Community First.
The group is mainly social, though self-advocacy and advocacy principles are key to how we operate. We meet on two Tuesday evenings during term times. The members decide the programme for the coming term and our facilitators help them to make it happen. Our recent activities have included a Christmas party, bingo, a film night and a trip to the pub. We are planning some walks and picnics for the summer term.
Our facilitators are important to the successful running of the group and we are always on the lookout for more people to help. If you think you would like to get involved you can see our current volunteer opportunities here
