Based at The Original Place in Purbrook Way just off the A3(M), the Havant Open DofE Centre is looking to recruit new volunteer Leaders to join us as soon as possible.
We are seeking motivated individuals (male or female) who have a desire to work with young people aged 14 to 25. You will guide them through the sections of their awards and help to train them for their expeditions. It is advantageous but not essential, that you have a desire to work in the great outdoors.
Our Leaders are responsible for a DofE group. You’ll lead, guide, inspire and encourage young people, agree their programme choices and approve their progress.
The DofE is committed to ensuring that high quality training is in place for DofE Leaders and volunteers that run our programmes. It is the competence and confidence of our Leaders that provides inspirational, top quality experiences for the thousands of young people who aim to achieve an Award. If you are able to commit to us then we will invest in and train you with skills that will serve you for life, both in the volunteering sector and in your own career.
All we ask is that you are available for two hours on a Monday evening during school term time and that you consider, after the appropriate training, helping to lead on at least two of our four annual practice and assessed expeditions.
Please note that these volunteering roles will be subject to a DBS check and the standard DofE registration process.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join what we believe is an outstanding DofE centre and give back some of your spare time to the community through volunteering. The heartwarming feeling you will get from it is so worthwhile and it provides you with lifelong skills and a sense of wellbeing that everyone should have the opportunity to feel.
