Celebrating Trustees Week 2024

4 November 2024

Trustees are volunteers who play an essential role leading and governing charities, and who work as part of a team to make effective strategic decisions.

An effective Trustee board will draw on a range of skills, knowledge, experiences and attributes across its members. You don’t have to be in paid work or have years of previous experience to be a trustee! Knowledge of a charity’s field of work or an understanding of the local community as well as “soft skills” such as creativity and problem-solving are just as important as technical knowledge or professional expertise.

This week is Trustees Week, an annual national campaign to celebrate the vital role trustees play in supporting our charities and making a difference in communities across the country. Trustees are recognised as the backbone of countless organisations, working behind the scenes to ensure that services and support reach those who need them most.

To support this campaign, this week we will be shining a spotlight on local individuals, who give up their time to guide and support our Hampshire charities as Trustees. All week we will be sharing Trustee case studies to find out why they have chosen to contribute and what makes their role rewarding.

Or why not get involved yourself, there are plenty of opportunities on our website: https://volunteerfirst.co.uk/search-results/?postcode=PO16+0EF&radius=50&keyword=trustee
